Pictures of the Interior, Events and Inauguration of the Thematic Tango Bar

Phase one: the Thematic Tango Bar was a tango venue even before its inauguration. An ideal of its creator and designer, the thematic Tango Bar’s facilities occupy the upper floor of the apartment. This phase started in 1994 and several important tango and ballroom dance events were organized. Many important personalities of the tango and ballroom areas, artists, politicians and entrepreneurs have already visited the Thematic Bar. As time went by, the Bar was decorated and adapted to house the culture for tango and dancing in general. In 1994 the famous tango teacher Mingo Pugliese and his wife and partner Esther, and also traditional members of the tango community, attended a “Tango, Wine and Cheese Party”. The premises remained mostly the same, with a few changes after some problems leading to the re-inauguration in August 8, 1998, now the official inauguration date. Events continued and the collection of data and information on tango gave rise to the need to make available the information compiled, and thus the book “Tango a Porteño Passion in Brazil" (Tango, Uma Paixão Porteña No Brasil” was edited in late 2000. 

The second phase of the thematic Bar starts with the re-inauguration party, with the presence of the great tango teacher Graciela González and the Brazilian tango teacher Paulo Araújo and many members of the local tango community. As of 2000, and due to special reasons, only small events were held, and no longer large ones. These smaller events consisted of video exhibitions, CD listening, special discussions and dance demonstrations, highlighting cultural issues as well as tango classes. Future plans include the inauguration of a new venue for the Thematic Tango Bar, open to the public. for special reasons, parties became sparser, restricted to “petit comités”, video exhibitions, and round tables and tango classes. The intention continues to carry out medium-sized events at the TB.
